The O’team

This is my fourteenth year of having a Facebook account, I am less active and go there once in a while. One of my greatest life lessons is that there are friends you meet, well everybody on Facebook that you interact with is a friend but there are people who besides the virtual friendship become part of you. Friendship is everything. Friendship is more than talent. It is more than the government. It is almost the equal of family.- Don Corleone” ― Mario Puzo, The Godfather.

I met  Clare on Facebook and she became a friend and a sister. One time Joshua asked whether I attended the parent’s wedding and I blame him not because Clare is my super friend and Sister. Friends are the relatives we make and often times , these new made relatives stick closer than our blood relatives.

When I fell ill in 2017,Clare and the team were among my first friends that checked on me. At the time, I was making considerable progress that Kirsten said,”Will Mwene get fine and kick the ball with us?”, lovely and Sweet Question

Well I regressed and I had to begin from Zero. The journey back up hasn’t been easy and needed to kinda start a fresh. The Team in 2020 had a Surprise for me, unknown to me they had a cake baked for me on my birthday and had plans to come over and cut the cake with me for my birthday, Unknown to me, John Paul and fiends had another surprise for me and I had plenty of cakes that day so I communicated to them and they said, it is okay, let us cut the cake and we send Mwene the video, I honestly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I think I was speechless the irony being that I am speechless because of impaired speech.

When I was young, I used to admire intelligent people but as I grew older my admiration waned as I found kind people more gracious and admirable. Most intelligent people talk to me in their free time, kind people free their time to talk to me. So I am taking an afternoon Nap and Claire called me, because of the sleep, I first rejected the call but on sobering up from the sleep, I wondered and gave her a call and she told me,”we are at the gate, send someone to open”

This time the good Coach was with the team, Kirsten was missing she was somewhere. Words may not express my gratitude for the love, support and standing by me for all the past seven years. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe.
