This entry is inspired by Favorite Kafunda by Rogers Wanambwa. You see the downside of a writing fraud is that after failure to break down the instructions, you read from what others have written to come up with what to write about, that’s the mark of a writing fraudster.Frauds are very craft and so is their creativity but it takes a spark to light up the fire.My mind loves to run and Since Maama Nakato is Nnalongo,I remembered one of the oldest restaurants in town called Nalongo’s restaurant , the place is in Katwe a town you bypass as you head to Entebbe International Airport and eight years ago, in perfect health,I checked into restaurant and wrote these words below on my Facebook microblog .

“Today I checked into one of the oldest restaurants in Kampala, Nnalongo Restaurant in Katwe, the place is over 100 years old. The Proprietor ,elderly Nnalongo in the photo is the Chief Cashier and she aptly handles money transactions well. The eating place was started by her mother long ago and she used to assist in serving, now she has continued the tradition and its her daughters who do the serving. The place has had famous customers ranging from the Ssekabakas and members of the royal family of Buganda. Infact Prince JJunju once in a while drops in for lunch. This place is a Luwombo speciality. It is one of the places that we celebrate African Food in light of emergence of Hello Food and Junk. The old man in the photo is the one who ensures that waiters are not delaying and are efficient. The place has amazing photographs, at least as you await your order, your eyes are definitely feeding onto something.”

The meal I had was luwombo. Luwombo, a traditional Ugandan dish cooked within a banana leaf, is a party favorite. Preparing the dish is a detailed process, which requires cooking a sauce using a variety of ingredients and then carefully wrapping the mixture in a banana leaf pouch. The ingredients are assembled before being packed in the soft banana leaf

Black lines run down a gold banana leaf. A string is tied around the top ends of the leaf, like a neck tie, creating a pouch. The unknown contents of the immaculately wrapped pouch – and the accompanying aroma – raise curiosity. This is the traditional way of making luwombo, a unique mixture of sauce and a variety of ingredients enveloped in a banana leaf and then steamed over a fire for hours
Traditionally, Luwombo was a royal dish but it is now served at traditional wedding ceremonies known as Okwanjula and it is mainly Chicken and opening up the wrapped Chicken is part of the dining experience. Nowadays Fish, mushrooms or grounds nuts can be substituted for the chicken. Nothing beats a Luwombo meal.Week one is done keep writing as I will pick from you since I am the resident Fraudster.
Ha. I am a fraud too for going by your explanation. Roger’s blog showed me the way. 😆😆
