Nearer, My God, to Thee” is associated with the sinking of the RMS Titanic, as some survivors later reported that the ship’s string ensemble played the hymn as the vessel sank Nearer, My God, to Thee” is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, which retells the story of Jacob’s dream. Genesis 28:11–12 can be translated as follows: “So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it…”
One has to appreciate the translation because in runyankole ,it is called,”Yesu Ninyehayo”, translation from English to a local language and the song, maintaining its meaning is hard, it takes special artistry to achieve that. Several hymns in the Anglican church are localized to enable penetration into the local community.
I’m a believer in the Christ who lived and lives. On a recent review visit, the physician,a doctor with a PhD remarked,”when God created us…”he was explaining the way the body is wired. There are so many skeptics. I’m not an evolutionist and here’s why I like debunking all theories suggested for the existence of the earth.
If naturalistic molecules-to-human-life evolution were true, multibillions of links are required to bridge modern humans with the chemicals that once existed in the hypothetical “primitive soup”. This putative soup, assumed by many scientists to have given birth to life over 3.5 billion years ago, was located in the ocean or mud puddles. Others argue that the origin of life could not have been in the sea but rather must have occurred in clay on dry land. Still others conclude that abiogenesis was more likely to have occurred in hot vents. It is widely recognized that major scientific problems exist with all naturalistic origin of life scenarios. This is made clear in the conclusions of many leading origin-of-life researchers. A major aspect of the abiogenesis question is “What is the minimum number of parts necessary for an autotrophic free living organism to live, and could these parts assemble by naturalistic means?” Research shows that at the lowest level this number is in the multimillions, producing an irreducible level of complexity that cannot be bridged by any known natural means . This debunks the so called theories of existence..
So I am a believer not because of blind faith because that is not our calling .We need a logical, rational and intellectual defense of Christianity. I have written before about Why I’m a believer This is against the background that Skeptics of the faith think that they are the wise ones. Does it make me a Christian apologetic?, I’m happily one.
