WBC Fashion and Culture;#2 Ndyomwiraguju

The above title literally means that I am black and perhaps to celebrate my heritage, In 2013, I with four others had a competition in Washington DC and we visited the Mall where there are significant memorials in the history of the US. While walking,we met a group of African Americans and they were excited as they said,”These guys are darker than us”. Now that didn’t bother me but on further introspection, I felt pity for them because they had grown up in a system of institutionalized racism that they had began to hate their color and were happy that we were darker than them. My mind ran to Martin Luther,I had stood at the spot where he gave,”I have a dream speech”.I asked myself why Malcolm X had never been honored with a day in the United States?

The old man with teammates at the spot where Martin Luther gave the speech.

When President Kennedy was gunned down in 1963, Malcom X gave a resounding speech, in it he was arguing that white America which continues institutionalized violence and discrimination continues the cruelity with the disenfranchisement of Muslims and Negros has made violence a fibre of the American society. He argued that when Negros were on the receiving end of violence, America sat back and did nothing. Both the government and the people, they who benefit from the niggerisation of descendants of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, are beneficiaries of the state -orchestrated violence that the Negros had been forced to renegotiate. He said its highly problematic when JFK was assassinated, America wanted to elevate the issue of violence to a national discourse. He went on to say that when you normalize violence against a section of people in your populace , soon or later that violence is going to spread and then fester like a sore and ultimately will infect your own community.
He said what happened to JFK, being gunned down so cruelly is what happens on a daily basis in the ghettos he concluded with one of his famous statements, “chickens have come home to roost”.
Make no mistake, Malcom X wasn’t celebrating the assassination of JFK, he was simply making a point about white America and Institutionalized violence.

The world does not celebrate Malcolm X because he was a radical but the chickens have come home to roost and that said, I was happy to be called being darker than the African Americans and that said Ndi Omwiraguju(I am black)
